Trim it or take it down

A Second Opinion Before the Chainsaw Comes Out

Not every troubling tree needs to come down, and not every tree worth saving can be. Timbershark's recommendations are grounded in professional arborist principles — looking at a tree's structure, health, and how close it sits to something it could damage before advising whether to prune it or remove it. That matters because the wrong call goes both ways. A healthy tree removed for no reason is gone for good, and a hazardous one left standing is a problem waiting for the next storm. You get an honest read on what the tree actually needs.

A Short Run Down Route 11 From Martinsburg

Inwood sits a few miles south of Martinsburg, where we're based, in the same stretch of Berkeley County we work in regularly. That means calling us for tree work here is well within our normal service area — you're not asking a crew to travel across the region to reach you. We cover the surrounding communities too, including Bunker Hill, Gerrardstown, and Falling Waters, along with the smaller pockets in between. When a storm rolls through this part of the county, we're close enough to respond while the situation still matters.

How It Works

You'll Know the Plan and the Price Before Anyone Climbs

01

Reach Out

Call or request a free estimate and tell us what you're dealing with, whether a hazardous tree, limbs over the roof, a stump or storm damage. We'll sort out the concern and the timeline together.

02

On-Site Assessment

We look at the tree in person, checking its structure, health and what it stands near. You'll get an honest read on whether it needs full removal or whether trimming solves the problem.

03

Estimate & Options

You get a clear estimate with the recommendation and the reasoning behind it. The number you approve is the number the work is based on, with no surprise add-ons.

04

The Work & Cleanup

The crew handles the agreed work with your property in mind, then cleans up and hauls off the debris. The only sign we were there is the work itself.

Homeowner Experiences

Dropping a Tree Near a House Is a Trust Problem Before It's a Tree Problem

A tree next to your roof, your fence, or your neighbor's property leaves little room for error, and you can't judge the skill until the work is done. These are homeowners and property owners across the region describing how their jobs actually went.

Meeting someone who has a mix of knowledge and passion meant an excellent experience was possible. He listened, suggested good things, and worked with joy and care. 7 trees and more taken care of and perfect timing before a storm. Our property is so much safer and the trees healthier now. Put him to work! He's up for it.

I had need of an emergency removal of a huge maple over my house. Reese not only handled it with the same sense of urgency I had , but was very personable in reassuring my house would be safe, and tree was safely on the ground quickly. I can't thank him enough. My experience with Timbershark was fantastic! I had a drone stuck up about 35-40ft in a tree. I called Timbershark and asked if they would be able to get it down for me. Reese showed up the next day, right on time, and was super professional. This reminded me of a passage from Luke 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much. I feel like this applies to Timbershark. I know he is super busy. He could have blown me off, he could have just ignored me. But he didn't. He took the time to help me out and I am so appreciative! So imagine how much effort and care he will put into your trees. The kind of customer service that Timbershark offered was a breath of fresh air to say the least. I would absolutely hire Timbershark again in the future. Keep up the good work!

I am very impressed with Timbershark. The crew arrived right on time, fully equipped, and the crew worked efficiently through the day. Some of the trees being removed required precarious cuts in limited space - so they used ropes and rigging to take the tree down in sections so nothing hit my roof, fence, or neighbor’s property. Reese also worked with our electrical provider to stop service during the removal of one of the trees . Reese is a great communicator and was knowledgable on each tree - so he offered great advice on trimming versus removal . After the cutting - the crew cleaned up every single branch and it was like they were never there. The price was fair and exactly what was quoted — no surprise add-ons. Timbershark works with several stump grinding companies and provided some talented and affordable stump removal options. If you need tree removal, trimming, or any tree service in the area, I recommend timbershark.

I've had property down on the Shenandoah river for 7 years now, and over that span of time have lost 1 car, 2 seadoos, a dock and somehow have avoided bodily injury- all from falling limbs/trees throughout the years. This year I arrived one day to find a 15 foot long branch in the area of the property where my tent campers normally setup. The idea that someone could have been seriously injured as a result of a limb that large, genuinely scared me. I looked around at several tree services and took a look at what services were offered, ultimately I decided to reach out to Timbershark and ask to schedule a time to meet up and have my trees assessed. Within 20 minutes (on a weekend) my phone rang and it was Reese Gelinas, the owner of and operator at Timbershark. He mentioned that he was out pricing a job in my area and asked if I had availability to meet that day. I provided an address and Reese texted me when he was on the way within 15 minutes. I explained my concerns and we discussed the challenges and decided to take a weight reduction approach on the massive Sycamore and some adjacent smaller trees. We scheduled a date a week out and went on about our weekend with a plan. First thing Monday morning I got a formal estimate and was able to contact Reese to ask questions and had it approved within the hour. There was an opening that popped up 4 days later and I was able to get the crew on site to start work before we planned which was perfect as we were preparing for the 4th of July that was fast approaching. I was able to watch the whole job and truly was impressed at the surgical removal of some massive limbs and how much better it looked when trimmed. All of it was fed to the coolest chipper I have ever seen!! it literally chewed up everything that was put in and the crew did an amazing job of cleaning up the property- raking included. Amazing experience from start to finish and I highly recommend Timbershark for any of your tree work- hands down the best!

The Questions Homeowners Ask First

How do I know whether a tree should be trimmed or removed?

It depends on the tree's health, structure, and what's around it. A tree that's mostly sound but overgrown or crowding your house is often a trimming job, while one that's dead, heavily damaged, or leaning toward a target may need to come down. We assess each tree before recommending either — the goal is keeping what's worth keeping and removing only what actually poses a risk.

For most trees, the dormant months of late fall through winter are ideal, since the tree isn't actively growing and the structure is easy to see without leaves. That said, dead or hazardous limbs shouldn't wait for a season — if a branch is threatening your roof or a walkway, it's worth addressing whenever you notice it.

Yes. We provide emergency tree service and storm cleanup throughout Inwood and the surrounding parts of Berkeley County. When severe weather brings down a tree or leaves a limb hanging over something it could hit, we respond to secure the situation and clear the debris.
